Welcome to The Ministry of Pretentiousness at blogspot.com! It is a fitting home for us, we believe, in this day in age when any wayfaring ruffian with a keyboard may pass for a journalist. Here in this Great Nation, the Freedom of Press is not only a gift to the few privileged possessors of printing machines, nor is it the exclusive charge of those educated Elite who hold Associate's Degrees in Pre-Journalism from prestigious Mid-Western Community Colleges. Nay, the Freedom of Press is a freedom for all, and we at The Ministry intend to exploit it.
That being said, allow us to introduce ourselves:
According to the highest authority on language, Dictionary.com, Pretentiousness is the noun form of the adjective Pretentious, which means: 1. Claiming or demanding a position of distinction or merit, especially when unjustified; 2. Making or marked by an extravagant outward show; ostentatious.
The Ministry of Pretentiousness is a public service organization dedicated to the administration, advancement, and general maintenance of all things Pretentious. The Ministry's existence is unquestionably necessitated by the sheer Pretentiality of modern society. Here you will find information about, support for victims of, and links to sites abounding with or concerning Pretentiousness.
Citizens and non-citizens alike are more than cordially invited to submit their own samples of, grievances about, praises directed toward, and/or neutral comments concerning Pretentiousness in the form of blogspot comments, community action, emotional outbursts, and/or silent prayers.
Any or All input will be carefully considered. It is important to remember that no Ministry is perfect, and even the Ministry of Pretentiousness can be Pretend. In fact, that's why we're here. Feel free to inform us if you feel we have misdiagnosed your favorite piece of cultural heritage as Pretentious! We can argue about it for hours, but in the end, we are usually right.
Cordially and Sincerely Yours,
The Ministry
